“That’s right, for the very first time I play a villain.”
Definitely, Kristoffer Martin is one of GMA’s most promising talents at present. Not only armed with good looks and physique but with singing and acting skills as well, and he comes in a complete package. If remembered, the handsome lad won the hearts of boob tube fanatics when he essayed the role of the young Dingdong Dantes in the Kapuso’s successful remake of the hit Koreanovela Endless Love back in 2010.
After this, the station left no stones unturned in making his stars shine brighter by including him in many of its hit programs like, Tween Hearts, Munting Heredera, Luna Blanca, Pahiram ng Sandali, Kakambal ni Eliana, Healing Hearts, Kahit Nasaan Ka Man, Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw, Buena Familia, Because of You, Mulawin Vs. Ravena and Super Ma’m. In these offerings, Kristoffer displayed his charismatic appeal to viewers which established him as one of the Kapuso’s future leading men.
Truly, Kristoffer has gone a long way from his Little Big Superstar days over at ABS-CBN. If remembered, he joined the said reality singing search for kids but got eliminated early on. During his stint with the said network, he was included in programs such as: Kung Fu Kids, Prinsesa ng Banyera, Ligaw na Bulaklak and Pare Koy.
Now that he’s with GMA, he gets to hone his acting skills further as he explores other dimensions that would contribute to his versatility, like breathing life to a contravida role in what can be considered as the station’s biggest offering this year – the drama-action-adventure-fantasy Victor Magtanggol top-billed by Alden Richards.
“I’m playing the villain part on screen,” he said. “I’m Janine Gutierrez’s overprotective stepbrother in the story who is mean to Alden’s character. It’s a different Kristoffer the public will see here and this early, I’m excited on their reaction and reception.”
Actually, it was his personal choice to breathe life to a bad character in his latest soap opera. “I want to try everything,” he insisted. “I don’t want to just get stuck on the ‘goodie-goodie’ type of roles. This is a way of widening my horizons in my craft. I know that it will pay off in the end and would ensure my long stay in show business as I mature. I know I made the right decision.”
Being with Alden is also a contributory factor why he agreed to do it. “It’s public knowledge that we are good friends off cam. In fact, it was him who told me first that I got cast in Victor Magtanggol. It’s fun and challenging at the same time to do scenes with him,” he shared.
As the contravida, is he ready to get bashed by Alden’s fans in the process? “Oh, that’s just fine with me. That’s expected. I know that as an actor, it is part of the job. One more thing, I understand that they are angry at my role and not to me personally,” Kristoffer stated.
This development finally puts an end to the rumor circulating that he will move back to ABS-CBN.
“That’s not true! I remain loyal as a Kapuso. I heard that rumor and I just shrug it off because there’s no truth into it.” Interestingly, the controversy started when it was reported that he recently had dinner with the executives and production group of Little Big Superstar.
“Well, I still talk to them and if time permits, go out on dinner with them. I guess there’s nothing wrong if I still keep close ties with them, right? It’s outside work anyway.” Kristoffer doesn’t see himself leaving GMA in the coming days. “Honestly, I don’t have plans of transferring to ABS-CBN. I’ve been there before. But admittedly, there were times in the past that it crossed my mind but it would just pass,” he averred.
The appealing hunk knows where his heart truly belongs. “GMA takes very good care of me. I like the way they program my career. So for sure, there’s no cause for alarm,” ended Kristoffer.
