“As long as it’s a different organization, walang problema.”
Beauty pageants provide platforms which enable one to enhance her abilities and explore beyond her boundaries. For Miss Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Wynwyn Marquez, winning the crown did not only boost her confidence but also make her discover her untapped potentials. After all, she didn’t win the crown just like that, but because of her great spirit and sheer determination.
The actress-beauty queen recently tried her hand at hosting the relaunch of Bell Films, the film production arm of Universal Records Philippines who’s producing their big comeback film Kontradiksyon. Surprisingly, her charm, wit and spontaneity played well with everyone in the audience.
“I don’t know where my confidence is coming from. I was just having fun onstage. Kuya Christian (Bautista) is there, matagal ko na siyang kilala. Siguro, I just love talking. I love being on stage. Confident lang ako na alam ko ang ginagawa ko,” she said.
Many even said that she has evolved a lot after winning the crown and making history as the first Asian and Filipina to earn the much-coveted pageant title.
“Siguro, I just appreciate what’s happening to me right now. Kasi before, artista na ako noon pero I don’t get much attention as now. Ibang-iba talaga at sobrang naa-appreciate ko siya ngayon. Sini-savor ko lahat at the same time I haven’t changed. My attitude does not change. I’m still the same. I’m happy and satisfied with what I have. I am contented with what God has given me, whatever blessing that comes na siguro bonus na lang,” she enthused.
Fast becoming an apple of the eye of her mother network and movie producers, she’s is set to star in her own teleserye and a romantic lead in an upcoming movie.
“Sobrang surreal na pakinggan na leading lady na ako. Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala. Doon na rin siguro magsi-sink when I see myself on screen,” she averred. By October, she’s set to relinquish her crown as Ms. Hispanoamericana to her successor.
However, Wynwyn has openly admitted that she’s not closing her doors on joining other beauty pageant. “Puwede pa akong sumali sa Binibining Pilipinas next year kasi pasok pa rin naman iyong age ko. I’m 26 at nasa age limit pa rin naman ako at puwede pa akong pumasok, so anything is possible,” she said. She also does not foresee any problem should she decide to join the said pageant again next year.
“Miss World naman and Binibining Pilipinas are two different pageants. Wala rin namang ruling na pag nanalo ka na sa international pageant, hindi ka na puwede sa iba. Pero ang tagal pa noon, next year pa iyon. Ang dami pang puwedeng mangyari. So, I don’t really know but let’s see,” she asseverated.
She also dismissed the speculations that she and Mark (Herras), her boyfriend are thinking of settling down.
“Not anytime soon. Masaya naman kami with the company of each other. Pero siyempre, ngayon pa lang ako nag-i-start talaga. Ngayon pa lang lahat natutupad ang mga pangarap ko and he’s very supportive. He’s willing to wait,” she elucidated. She also denied that she’s no longer accepting kontrabida roles anymore.
“That’s not true. Wala namang masama roon. Kung maganda iyong role at challenging, why not?,” she concluded.
