From its first Paris store in 1978 to its flagship store in Manila, GO Sport has always been at the forefront not just in sports retail but sports culture, in general.
The French sports retail giant GO Sport has finally reached our shores. Last week, the sprawling branch officially opened their first store in the country (incidentally also their inaugural branch in Southeast Asia). Located at Festival Mall in Filinvest, Alabang, the opening was attended by some of the country’s most celebrated sports personalities and VIPs.
Among the special guests in attendance is “The People’s Champ” Manny Pacquiao, who rose to prominence because of his storied boxing career which saw him secure titles in eight weight divisions. Pacquiao, along with GO Sport CEO Pascal Benet, cut the ribbon for the store’s unveiling. The boxing icon also signed a giant boxing glove that was displayed to commemorate the occasion. Also present was another giant, Hafþór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson, who stars as “The Mountain” in HBO’s Game of Thrones, as well as former Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson.
Aside from Manny Pacquiao, other GO Sport ambassadors include sports icons from basketball (Calvin Abueva, RR Garcia, and Jeff Chan), volleyball (Jaja Santiago, Desiree Cheng, and Denden Lazaro), tennis (Tin and Clarice Patrimonio), and many more. The celebrations lasted all throughout the weekend and included activities for the guests, which culminated in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament consisting of local celebrities Robi Domingo, Jules Fernandez, Rex Intal, Martin Javier, and more.
GO Sport’s expansive store in Alabang carries items from the world’s top sporting brands, covering ground in apparel, gear, and accessories in a wide array of sports. It also boasts of a sport-specific layout, a customization station, and simulation technology, which includes a miniature driving range that will allow customers to not just test their wares but also make informed decisions on their prospective purchases.
After establishing a dominant foothold in multi-brand sports retail in France, the store has since ventured to other major cities in the world, lording them over in terms of stock, space, scope, and specialization. It carries all the brands that matter when it comes to competitive sports, physical fitness, leisure, recreation, and beyond.
GO Sport caters to the needs of everyone from amateurs to pros, from casual players to starry-eyed enthusiasts, from hopeful beginners to hardened vets. Its various stores around the globe have been known to up the ante by mounting simulations where customers can be in their element.
