“In life, it is better to forgive than to have ill-feelings towards others. Ako kasi humingi ka lang ng tawad, I can easily forgive you, basta mula sa puso mo. Life is too short para mag-tanim ka ng sama ng loob sa kapwa.”
Businesswoman-turned-TV host (Business Flight aired on GMA News TV) Cristina Decena, always finds time in sharing her blessings, especially in this period of gift-giving and the advent of the Christmas holiday. in support of her advocacy and charity works, we accompanied her (with her staff) a few days ago, and visited a nursery school in Lumipa, Gen. E. Aguinaldo, Cavite, where she distributed toys and other goodies, as a pre-Christmas gift to all the children of the said barangay school.
All the schoolchildren and other kids from the barangay were benefitted from Decena’s kindness and hard work. “Every Christmas season I always see to it that I share to others, especially the children the blessings I have received the past months. I have been doing this for years, kasi I believe that if you share to others what you have, babalik din sa iyo ang mga blessings na yun. It is my way of thanking God for everything,” said the businesswoman.
But before we proceeded to the venue of her gift-giving, we were first led to the unveiling of her new billboard spa along the national highway of Tagaytay. Cristina is the new endorser of Banahaw Heals Spa, who has more than 300 outlets nationwide. As the endorser, she met the owner of the said branch, along with the company owners and president. And as an endorser, she had plans of putting up her own outlet.
As a sign of her of her kind heart and good-naturedness, Ms. Cristina admitted that she has forgiven her former partner, actor Phillip Salvador, for all the atrocities he committed against her, and the legal cases she filed dropped just to show to him that she has no more ill-feelings against her ex-lover. Through a common friend, they met accidentally last Valentine’s Day, at the lobby of a five-star hotel in Makati, a month before his promulgation. And they talked and hugged each other, as if they never had any legal altercations before.
“Actually, a month before the promulgation of his case, Cristina announced on national television that she’s so much willing to forgive him, only if he will ask forgiveness of all the transgressions he has committed against her. Unfortunately, there’s a law that we need to follow. A case cannot just be dropped against a person kasi napatwad ko na sya publicly. Akala ko puede na yun, di pala. Kaya I attended the promulgation at dun na acquit na sya,” she related.
But to recall their legal battle, in 2007, Phllip was convicted by the court of the said estafa case. After that, he asked forgiveness on national television. But since Cristina filed several cases, the hearing went on for years. And with the last case she filed against him, she again announced publicly that she has forgiven the actor-turned-politician. But the court urged her to recant her case.
“In as much as I want to do that, I think di naman siguro proper kasi I filed a case tapos magre-recant ako. Paano naman ang credibility ko. That’s the main reason why I attended his last promulgation just to show to him my support, and that everything is now okay between us. Wala na akong sama ng loob at napatawad ko na s’ya ng buong-buo. At yan ang sinabi ko sa court. But since we need to follow the rules, kaya I attended the last promulgation. Buti na lang when the judge read his decision, he said that there was no probable cause and was found not guilty. Kaya we hugged each other in front of sa many people. And I told him we have to move on with our lives and I wished him luck sa kanyang future endeavors,” she related.
“Although I told him na nangyari itong lahat kasi may nagawa kang mali at dapat padusahan mo. Buti na lang di sya guilty. Sinabi ko wala na akong hinanakit sa kanya at totally I have forgiven him. At least we have remained as friends. Mas Mabuti ang ganun at mas magaan ang pakiramdam mo pag wala kang galit sa kapwa,” she added.
Will she support Phillip if he decide to run again in the next election? “I will but not finanacially. Wala namang problema dun kasi may pinagsamahan naman kami. And in spite of the bad experiences we have, may magaganda naman kaming pinagsamahan din,” she answered. Cristina also stressed that she keeps a good relationship with her ex-partners.
