Good luck Miss Philippines!
Tonight, around 7 p.m., the next Miss World will be crowned, to be held at the Sanya City Arena, Sanya, China. Laura Lehmann, a Psychology graduate from Ateneo de Manila, and TV host, will be the country’s representative in the said prestigious beauty pageant. There will be 120 young ladies all over the world vying for the title now celebrating its 67th year, and probably the most number of candidates joining in any international pageant.
As of this moment, 24-year old Lehmann is topping some of the preliminary events leading to the coronation night. She has advanced to the Top 40 after she was chosen as one of the Top 5 in the Beauty with a Purpose segment and led in her group’s Head-to-Head challenge.
In her Beauty with a Purpose video, she discussed her five-year advocacy program to help indigent mothers under the care of the Jose R. Reyes Memorail Medical Center in Manila, to set up a milk bank to produce more breast milk to help address malnutrition and underweight among newly born babies. And in the section of the pageant, the Head-to-Head challenge, she was asked about cyber-bullying and answered comfortable in less than 30 seconds.
