          Congratulations! To all the aspirants  who were drafted during the PBA Rookie Draft 2017. Good luck to your new team as you now enter the professional league.

          Among PBA enthusiasts, all roads led to Robinsons Place Manila yesterday afternoon where the PBA Rookie Draft 2017 took place. All PBA fans and basketball aficionados thronged to the said venue to witness who will be their next idol in the hardcourt in the coming PBA 43rd Season. There were 44 draftees in all, coming from different leagues and schools who participated in the said exercise. Even half-breed athletes made their presence felt in the venue.
       Among the top picks were Phil-German Christian Standhardinger (who flew all the way from Hong Kong who has an existing contract with the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions in the ABL), was selected by San Miguel Beer. Former  UAAP MVP and Blue Eagles alum Keifer Ravena was chosen by NLEX, Cebuano D’League ’17 MVP Raymar Jose was selected by Blackwater, Jason Perkins to Phoenix Petroleum, and another second generation PBA player, Jeron Teng of La Salle, went to Alaska Milk.

   Completing the first round were Robert Herndon (GlobalPort), Rey Benedict Nambatac (Rain or Shine), Sidney Onwubere (Phoenix), Lervin Flores (Star), Mark Tallo (Star), Jon Gabriel (Star), and last season’s grand champion Barangay Ginebra go Jett Mauel.
         The second round pick were John Gorospe, along with Joseph Gabayani (both went to Star), Emil Palma  Blackwater), Julian Sargent (Star), Louie Vigil (San Miguel), Davon Potts (Alaska), Jomari Sollano (Rain or Shine), Gwyne Capacio (Star), Jason Grimaldo (Phoenix), Monbert Arong (Talk and Text), Wilson Baltazar (Phoenix), and Andreas Cahilig (GlobalPort).
         During the third round, Kia got Christian de Chavez, Gabriel Dagangon selected by NLEX, Rolxan Sara went to Phoenix, Zachary Nichos was chosen by GlobalPort, Jeb Bulawan selected by Bolts and Elemer Cabahog went to Brgy. Ginebra. John Sumido was drafted last and went to Blackwater after the fifth and last round.
         Come December, the 43rd PBA season will open and expect the rookies to wear their jerseys in play heads on to wear their jerseys to play with their teammates and prove their worth as the next generation of hard-court idols.
